The insignificant things currently on my mind…

1) Shopping. Usually I’m not such a fan but lately I’ve been doing a lot of it and, unfortunately, spending more money than usual. I don’t do a lot of shopping in Davis, and I’m actually buying things being home. Scares me a little though, with my irritatingly frugal habits.

2) Bangs. So I did it, hacked off my long sweepy side bangs into some blunt, horizontal ones that hit just around my eyebrows. I’m still getting used to ‘em, and thus haven’t decided how I feel about them yet. But so far, I think I’m a fan.

3) America’s Next Top Model. And I’m not even talkin’ the current season! Reruns seem to be on at all times, and I have yet to meet a female who doesn’t secretly love that show. Why is that?! But I’ll be the first to admit that it’s entertaining as all get out.

4) Hiking. The first three on this list have been ridiculously girly, especially for me. But seriously! With John doing the PCT next year and being in the slope-free zone that is Davis, I’ve been craving some gooood mountains! Where are you? I wanted to do the Overlook trail today alone, a very tame attempt at satisfying my yearning to hike, but Poppi wouldn’t let me go alone… Hurrah for being a girl….

5) Variations of doctor’s offices and hospitals. Being up all night during finals week in the hospital with my dear friend Justin and his appendicitis (who, by the way, is making a fine recovery–I’m so relieved) made me realize that I am not one to run from hospitals. And then I spent part of Tuesday in the periodontist’s office and part of today in the dermatologist’s…I’ve be

a little town called Sonoma

I LOVE SONOMA! As tiny and boring as everyone thinks it is, it really was a wonderful place to grow up. I’ll always be happy to call it home. It’s always nice to come back, like seeing an old friend.

I’ve just had a beautiful time being home the past two days. Running and hiking, baking chocolate cake and rolls, eating cheese and berries, shopping, and enjoying the gorgeous weather with my friends and family. So cute and innocent, it’s just been surreal.

Tomorrow I’m cutting my hair. I’ve always adored the classic, Louise Brooks-esque 20’s flapper bob. I want those blunt bangs! I want the tapered edges! And I want it short! It’s a very controversial cut, but I think I just need to go for it. People keep telling me not to, but I’m always going to want to know how it would look, so I better just get it out of my system…
